i love the jane, its very nice and affordable for a traveller like me.

there's no elevator, walking up to 5th floor is really painful after the whole day walk to explore new york

It was good that it's located in the cool area, right down the meat packing district.

The standard cabin was the smallest room I've ever stayed.

I loved the architecture of The Jane. Just lovely. I loved the service there too. Very good.

The bedroom looks clean but when I was there I saw a small cockroach in my room! Ew!!!

    Fabulous

The Jane Hotel is one of the best experiences in my life. It's located near to Manhattan in a perfect Green Village. There is only a bad in the room, it's strange, but ok for 1 - 2 days staying)))) Most important thing of this place is a lobby&bar - tonight beautiful people come there for drinking and dancing and its extremely cool! I advise The Jane for those who like fun and want go party :) Anna

    Fabulous

Very friendly hotel staff (but not very honest, see below). Very clean. Stylish interior. Perfect location. About 10min walking distance to subway station on 8th Ave & 14st. Lots of restaurants, bars, shops around. High Line Park around the corner. Very hip area, nice flair. Would book a room there again, but not on the 2nd floor (see below)

I had booked a standard room & they 'upgraded' me to a large room. I emphasized I needed a quiet room because of the jet lag & was confirmed that room was super quiet. What a joke! At around 11pm/midnight the hotel bar/club starts rocking. Im not exaggerating I felt like the bed as in the club. Everything was shaking and the noise was unimaginably loud (the base made the whole room & bed rock!). The music didnt go off till 4am. Nightmare! They were fully booked so I couldnt move rooms. Absolute no go! It was room 218. Most rooms on the 2nd floor are affected by the noise from the hip bar. Unless you want to party in the bar till 4am, the 2nd floor is a no go.

    Exceptional

Standard rooms are perfectly big enough for one person. Everything you need is there. As a travelling-solo female, the shared bathrooms are fully lockable, clean, and were no problem at all. I'd go back in a heartbeat.

A suggestion was given to the hotel already to provide more hooks in the showers. The floors are always wet and nothing stays dry unless it's hung up.

    Very good

This hotel is well located (about 10 m to 14st and the subway) and the neighbourhood seems calm and safe. The rooms are not big, it's true, but if you go to ny to explore the city and won't be spending much time in the hotel and only need a place to sleep, it's ok. You have plenty of space to store your bag, even a big one, under the bed, you have several places to hang your stuff, 2 drawers and a safe box for free with a pin defined by you. They also provide you a robe and slippers, air conditioned, ipod dock and flat-screen tv. I was in the standard cabin with shared bathroom. They were always clean, just had a bit of water in the floor in the shower bathroom. I would recommend it!

    Exceptional

The Jane was a 'different' hotel that offered everything I required. The rooms are an experience and quirky! I loved my stay there. The bar was lovely and the ballroom stunning.

    Good

Vintage style hotel with its own face and history, good unusial location in Greenvich Village, a charmy and undiscovered part of NYC, good and professional friendly staff.

This is type of "capsula" hotels, where rooms are so small, that if you have spacious luggage you will get confused how to handle it. But what is most suprising is shared bathroom. It is clean and comfort, but 2 bathrooms per floor remains about the communist times where most intimal private space were shared. Thats ok, I can survive even without private bathroom in a room size of normal bed, but then the price seems to be not so budget. So this hotel is ok for young budget travellers who feels fun whatch mooving men and women in underwear in the isles. Price above 100 $ per night seems to me above the limit.

    Very good

Boho hotel with loads of character. The heat was off on the first night coz of the hurricance which is why I marked fair for comfort and then too hot for the next 24 hours.. The food I ate in the Cafe Gitanes was vg if higher priced than the nearby diner. The staff helped a lot despite their recovery from the terrible storm.

Stairs need more thorough cleaning. The air con was connected to the reading light switch

    Fabulous

Great value for money, lovely staff, brilliant Saturday night in the Ballroom and perfect location.

No communal areas for guests to hang out unless you have a booking in the restaurant.

    Fabulous

The atmosphere, history, location, friendly staff and lovely Cafe Gitane!! Would certainly recommend this hotel to all solo travelers.

    Fabulous

It was a fabulously charming hotel with loads of character, giving something a bit different than a run-of-the mill hotel chain. There were also some lovely touches, such as a complimentary bottle of wine, use of robes and slippers and bicycles available.
